Nativity Decorations

This year I was in charge of decorating the Chapel for our Nativity display. It went great, but was definitely exhausting. Not sure I'd do it again....I'm okay with sharing the blessings :-)

Goodbye Sunkist

Well, it's been three whole days since I've had a Diet Sunkist. Yes, I know, IT'S A MIRACLE!!!! I've decided no more for me. And today I'm trying to cut out caffeine - unless the headaches get too bad, then I've have to wean myself a bit. And yes, the headaches have started, oh have they started. Goodbye my Sunkist, apparently it wasn't so nice knowing you since I'm having to kick you to the curb....

New Calling

It's official - I'm now back in Young Women's!! I've been called to be the second counselor, over the Beehives...or in this case, Beehive, we only have one.

I'm excited, and honestly, a little out of my comfort zone. I've been such a hermit lately...work/home/eat/read/sleep...that I think it's going to be a challenge for me to get used to being around people more. That's pathetic, I know! But it will be very good for me and I really am looking forward to it. The group of girls is really small...honestly there are as many leaders as girls, but I know it will be a great experience. Wish me luck :-)

Happy 4th Everyone!!!

This day is very special to me. Not only does it celebrate our wonderful nation's independence, but it also marks the day my parents joined the church!!

I hope everyone has a fun and relaxing weekend! Please remember to fly your flags to show that you are PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!!!!!

Legoland at Grapevine

A couple of weekends ago, I joined Patty, Holly, Joey & the kiddos for a trip to Legoland and the Rain Forest Cafe at Grapevine Mills Mall. We had a great time! The kids are so cute!!!

My favorite part of Legoland was MiniLand. Way too cute!!!! It's Dallas/Ft. Worth in Legos. I was VERY impressed with MiniLand - could have stayed in there for hours. Of course, that's pretty much all the pictures I took, though there is one of Cali on a giraffe....which looks like it hurts - ouch!

Enjoy! - and sorry, the camera on my phone was pretty crappy on this particular day.....

The Texas State Fair (iswheel)

Good ole' South Fork

DFW Airport

The runways at DFW

The Ballpark at Arlington

Cowboy's Stadium....complete with jumbo screen on top :-)

Downtown Dallas

The American Airlines Center - WAY TO GO MAVS!!!!

Downtown Dallas (at night)

And last but not least, Cali on her giraffe. The one she wouldn't get off, especially when a little boy kept looking like he really wanted to get on.....LOL. I finally made her get off so he could have a turn - but then she was right back up there when he walked away :-) Kids, got to love 'em!!!

Why God Made Moms

Answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?
1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?
1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of?
1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?
1. We're related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's mom like me.

What kind of a little girl was your mom?
1. My mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my mom eats a lot
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?
1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
2. Mom. You can tell by room patrol. She sees the stuff under the bed. Dad is easy. Just hug him.
3. I guess mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms and dads?
1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller and stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friends.
4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine...

What does your mom do in her spare time?
1. Mothers don't do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?
1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?
1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

Super Bowl/Snow & Icy Weather/Damaged Driveway

Life in the Dallas area has been hectic lately, to say the least. The Super Bowl was something I was looking forward to with it being in my city and all, but the weather turned it into a disaster. The game itself was pretty good, but living in the host city you tend to see stuff you don't normally - like all the mistakes. I'm just going with the thought that no Super Bowl comes off completely without a hitch. Still, here's a picture of the Stadium the weekend before the big game. See, the weather was great then!!!

Then came the snow and ice. Missed two days from work, which they had conniptions over ~ like we were lying about how bad the driving conditions were. Heater broke in my house on the first day of the storm, so I've "literally" been freezing for days. Luckily I have a heated mattress pad, so I spent almost the entire time in bed. Took a bath one night and steam was actually rising from my arms and legs when I got out of the hot water. Very freaky!!

Then....once the melting occurred, along comes my cracked driveway. Water got underneath and distroyed it. It's just crumbling. And guess what? State Farm doesn't cover it. Joy, Joy, Happy, Happy!

I'M READY FOR WARMER WEATHER!!!!

New Year's in Alabama

Mom, Dad & I visited Joy & Co. over New Year's weekend. Had a great time and wish we could have stayed longer.

Here's are a few pictures from the trip (yes, I'm horrible about remembering to take pictures.) Here's some photos of NASA where we had an outside visit.

Big George, husband of Ms. Baker, first Monkeynaut to make it back alive....but she's dead now. That was a long time ago. I wonder if they had a marriage ceremony????

And of course, there's Mom playing XBox with Nathan. G&G were watching Nathan while we were at Wal-mart, and when we got back, this is what we found!! And earlier that day, Nathan and Dad/Grandpa were shooting nerf guns at each other. I actually missed that, but would have truly enjoyed it. Poor Nathan, he just wanted somebody to play with him and G&G stepped up to the plate!!!
