Poopy Pick-Up

Along the Katy Trail there's an oh so LOVELY sign informing you to pick up after your dog. It's a good thing I don't have a dog because I might have gotten confused and tried to pick up his/her #1 instead of his/her #2. Thank goodness they put up a sign demonstrating exactly what they mean!! I'm sure there are plenty others out there like me who might have gotten it wrong..... geez!

The Katy Trail

The Katy Trail is about 3.5 miles long and runs directly behind my office (literally ~ I can see the people walking/jogging/riding bikes/rollerblading from our parking lot.) I've wanted to check it out the entire time I've worked here, but yesterday was my first time. I love it!! I only walked for 30 minutes, but I'm already super sore ~ which I know is just pathetic!!! Today I'm walking again. Will head in the opposite direction, towards the American Airlines Center. Super excited!! Here's some pictures. Isn't it pretty and peaceful looking?

Before I Fall ~ By Lauren Oliver

Wow ~ Makes me want to go back and fix all the mean things I ever said/did to anybody! We don't always realize that the choices we make effect others, too.

This books shows you just how shallow, petty and mean teenage girls can be, but gives you hope that they, too, can change.....

I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

If it didn't make me so mad at the characters so much, I'd give it a 5...but I guess, really, that's the whole point.

Book Swapping

I went to Jeremy & Chrystina's on Saturday for a short little visit. Had a really good time! Julie was there with all her kids, except the older boys and Jeremiah & Heather showed up (with baby Chase) to spend some time with us too. I'm very grateful I had this chance to spend some time with them all. Life goes by too fast, you know!

I took along some of my books to let Chrystina and Julie read and I got some books in return....yay ~ I was SUPER excited!!!! You know me and reading. I'm sure I'll have all 10 or so books read by our Houston trip. I know...crazy woman that I am.... :-)

As you can tell, I'm obsessed with books right now, but like most of my obsessions, I'm sure this will last a few years or so and then I'll be on to something else. I wonder what it will be????? Things that make you go Hmmmm....

**Oh, and I want a bookshelf just like this one, just darker wood.....**

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

Wasn't too sure I was going to like this book, it was recommended to me by one of the workers at Borders, but I must say, it's very charming! It's just a bunch of letters written back and forth between a literary society and an author in England right after WW2. Doesn't take long to read and it definitely brings a smile to your face ~ so I recommend it just for that fact! A couple of moments are priceless and I'm glad they will forever be imbedded in my mind :-)

The Things That Keep Us Here

How far would you go to protect your family?

"Here is an apocalyptic novel as topical as today's headlines, yet as intimate as a lover's touch. A brilliant debut that deserves to be read by everyone."
—New York Times bestselling author James Rollins

I went to the bookstore on Saturday not sure what I wanted to read. Saw this book and felt drawn to it, but put it down and kept looking. I found a couple of other books I was interested in but something kept pulling me back to this book ~ so, I bought it.

I read the entire novel in one sitting. Let me say, WOW!! At first it was a little technical, the first couple of chapters, boys would like it, but then it started to pick up. This is a definite must read for all adults!! It's scary as all get out, if you let it be. I'm sending my copy to Patty. So, if you're in Corpus, be sure and ask her to borrow it once she's done. It does have parts that are somewhat gory, but realistic for the situation. I don't want to give any details because I want you to be as new to it as I was ~ just go out and buy it!!

Roses by Leila Meachan

LOVED IT!!! It reminds me that everyone that's ever lived has a story to tell.

Okay, this book is ripping my heart out, but I can't put it down!!!

It reminds me of the movie Titanic. Old lady at the beginning goes back and tells her story. Obviously you know what happens in the end before the story even begins. It's heart-wrenching to know what happens before it happens, but the details with all their twists and turns keep you glued. Many lessons to be learned in this novel! Pride, being the biggest one!!! I'm almost half-way through. I'll let you know my verdict once I'm completely finished. But so far, I'm loving/hating it :-)!!!....mostly loving it. I've even been mentioning this book to my mother....so you know it's really affecting me!

Flintstones Vitamins ~ Just Like Breast Milk???

Yesterday I saw a commercial that took me back just a bit. It was a Flintstones vitamin add claiming to be "just like breast milk." Who's breast milk is my question????

Okay....so apparently it has something in it that's in breast milk, choline; but still.....
