The Next Big Thing!

My prediction: This is the next big thing so get on the bandwagon now ~ Matched by Ally Condie.

This is a lot like The Hunger Games. Just not as fast paced or gruesome. But by the end, my heart was starting to beat fast. It's going to be a trilogy. Can't wait for the second book coming in the Fall of 2011 - Crossed!!

Ally is a former teacher who lives in Utah. Attended BYU. So yes, it's a nice, clean book! Of course, there's a love triangle and for once, I can't decide which guy I like better :-)

See, everybody wants it! :-)

Our Angel Tree Girl

This year at work we decided to give to an "Angel Tree" child instead of exchanging gifts. We picked a 12 year-old girl. She needed a comforter and she wanted a karaoke machine, so that's what we got her!!!

I bought the comforter, sham, pillow for shaw just in case she didn't have an extra one, purple sheets, purple decorative pillow and pink throw!!! The comforter has all different colors in it that you can't see, pink, purple, green, blue...very colorful!! Of course, everyone pitched in money, but I had a great time going to the store and picking it all out!! I'm really glad we did this this year!! It really got me in the holiday spirit and I truly hope that whoever our mystery 12 year-old girl is, that she will LOVE it!!!!

Lipstick in School

Lipstick in School (You've got to love this …….)

According to a news report, a certain private school in Brisbane was recently faced with a unique problem. A number of 12-year-old girls were
beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in the bathroom. That was fine, but after they put on their lipstick they would press their lips
to the mirror leaving dozens of little lip prints..

Every night the maintenance man would remove them and the next day the girls would put them back.

Finally the principal decided that something had to be done. She called all the girls to the bathroom and met them there with the maintenance
man. She explained that all these lip prints were causing a major problem for the custodian who had to clean the mirrors every night (you
can just imagine the yawns from the little princesses). To demonstrate how difficult it had been to clean the mirrors, she asked the
maintenance man to show the girls how much effort was required..

He took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it in the toilet, and cleaned the mirror with it. Since then, there have been no lip prints on
the mirror.

There are teachers.... and then there are educators

My New Toy!

I got this on Saturday for a $25 delivery fee only (I paid DeMeon from work gas money to bring it over from Plano)! I'm so stoked!!!! I got it from Windy at my office, who got it from my boss a few years ago. I had not seen it before its delivery, but since my boss has tons of money and good taste, I knew I was going to love it ~ and boy do I!!!! Now just need help putting the TV in and moving it to the right spot. Looks like it's time to start decorating the room around it - Yay!!!!

A Taste of Fall....

I found this leaf on my driveway Saturday morning. I know it's not the best picture, but I just thought it was beautiful. It has green/brown/orange/red/yellow. We don't normally have such pretty fall colors in our leaves down here in Texas, so I just wanted to share..... I LOVE FALL!

Great Story!!!! - Go Rangers & Way to Go, Josh!

PETERSBURG, Fla. - It looked like a typical clubhouse celebration to those who tuned in to watch the Texas Rangers party after beating Tampa Bay 5-1 in Game 5 of the AL division series. Champagne flowed. Players took beer baths.

But what many didn't see was that the opening moments of the celebration had no alcohol at all in them. The players, in a nod to centerfielder Josh Hamilton's long battle against alcohol and drug abuse, started the party with ginger ale. The MVP candidate was in the center of the storm of spray.

Soon after the Champagne and beer came out and Hamilton quietly slipped out of the room. He did interviews in the corridor outside the clubhouse as the festivities went on.

"The guys were waiting on me and they dumped me with ginger ale," Hamilton said. "It says a lot about my teammates and (understanding) my situation and not wanting (me) to send the wrong message to people out there."

Hamilton's career nearly was ruined by his battles with addiction. He conquered them to become a star, but had a brief relapse in January after three years sobriety...... He recovered to have a season where he won the batting title and is one of the frontrunners to win the AL MVP.

"It was the coolest thing for my teammates to understand why I can't be a part of the celebration," he said. "For them to adapt it for me to be a part of it says a lot about my teammates."

Teammate and likely Game 1 starter C.J. Wilson also does not drink and is believed to have been behind the idea of working Canada Dry into the festivities.

I Want To Hold Your Hand - As Performed on Glee

On last night's episode of Glee, "Kurt" performed "I Want to Hold Your Hand" for his father who was in the hospital. I didn't see it at the time, because I was watching The Biggest Loser, but I watched it today and it's very touching. Gave me goose bumps, so I'm sharing with you..... :-)

My New Name: Grumpy!!

Yes, I'm Grumpy!!! Very Grumpy!!!

My period is off and has been for the last couple of months. Cramping almost all the time. Very tired of it. Went to the OB/GYN on Friday and now I'm on the "pill" for the first time in my life to try and regulate myself (I feel somewhat hussy-ish.) I sure hope it works because I feel like ripping just about any-person-who-gets-in-my-way's head off. It's so frustrating!!!! My office co-worker is making some sort of slurping noise - WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!!! STOP IT NOW!!!!

And you know what makes me the most angry???? Everytime I've mentioned this to people they all say: You must be going through the change. NO, I'M NOT!!! My doctor said it's highly unlikely since I'm still too young. So stop saying that people ~ it only makes me madder!!!! That's a very sensitive matter with me!

Okay, thanks for letting me blow off some steam. Better my blog than my co-workers.... They thank you all :-)

I'm going to start walking the trail again today since the weather is so beautiful. I'm hoping that will help, too. Wish me luck!

Got Sidetracked by the "Outlander" Series

Okay, so I haven't read Clockwork Angel, yet...oops!

Amber told me about the series "Outlander" and now I'm hooked on it. The first book I really enjoyed, because it was the beginning of course, but it had something in there that I really hated. Decided to give the second book a try hoping the "bad thing" wasn't in there anymore. It was a bit, but it appears now to have gone away - yay!!!! Now I'm about to start the 4th book in the series, of which there are 7 right now. These books are anywhere from 600 to 900 pages each. I really do love the story, without that "bad" thing, of course!!!! If you can make it through the first book, I highly recommend continuing on. I love Jamie & Claire!! And it's very historical...she did a ton of research. I actually feel like I'm learning something besides just reading a story :-) It's really is a romance book, so if you're not into that, then don't read it. And if you want to know what the bad thing was before reading, just email me and I'll tell you so you can decide for yourself.

LOVED IT, that's all I'm going to say. Haunts me, though. Still can't stop thinking about it. I cried several times. Even cried this morning on the way to work....

I couldn't wait. Sad, I know. Amber is going to buy my pre-ordered book since she hasn't even started Catching Fire yet. I'm super excited!!!

Tomorrow's the DAY!!!!!

I'm so thrilled I can't stand it!!! I read a review today, which didn't give anything away, but did say it's the bloodiest and goriest of all three books. Said the conclusion is shocking and highly original.....

I pre-ordered, so I probably won't get it for a couple of days, but if I've waited this long and I can't make. BUT....when I pre-ordered Breaking Dawn, I actually received it on the day it came out ~ SO I'M HOPING, HOPING, HOPING the same will happen tomorrow. I'll go home from work and there will be my precious MOCKINGJAY!!!! But I won't get my hopes up too high. At least I know it will be there this week... :-)

And I'm going to try my best not to devour it. Savor the moment, Cindy, you can do it.

Go Peeta!!!

Happy reading!!!
