My Attempt at Wuthering Heights

After finally finishing the Twilight series for the fourth time, I've decided to venture out. Now I've picked Wuthering Heights to read because, number one, it's mentioned many times in Twilight, and two, I remember it somewhat from high school ~ and I liked it (or was it the Cliff Notes??? probably, I'm not sure)

Anyway, tonight I started reading....Chapter 1 ~ made absolutely no sense to me. I realized a man was "renting" a home from Heathcliff, but then all of a sudden he was at Heathcliff's house, not his own house, and then all of a sudden dogs were attacking him ~ I had no idea dogs were even in the scene!

Oh geez, this is going to be harder than I thought. I've never been much a reader, but the Twilight books are so easy to read that I was hoping it would be easier than this....I was so wrong.

I continued on through Chapters 2 - 4. I'm understanding more, and even cried a couple of times -- I must have read the Cliff Notes!!!!! Kim and I were pros at that ~ and always got really good grades (??????)

Anywoo, I will continue on because I am interested. But I'm telling you, out of the four chapters I've read, I doubt I got half of it. I'm hoping it will make more sense to me the more I read it. I'll definitely rent the movie afterwards!!

I'll keep you updated as to my progression into the literary world - it's not an easy thing for me, but at least my interest is peeked and I'm trying my best!!!

Plano Balloon Festival

A few weeks ago I went with Joey, Holly & the girls to the Plano Balloon Festival. I was really excited to go ~ it's something I've always wanted to do since moving to the Dallas area.

It was really neat to see all the balloons, but the best part, by far, was the end. They allowed us to go down on to the field with the balloons (after dark). It was so thrilling. It had a movie-like feel!! Holly couldn't control herself and did an impersonation of Julie Andrews in the Sound of Music. It was just so MAGICAL. Thanks to Holly for inviting me. I had a great time!!

Unfortunately, my camera went dead before the nighttime burns of the balloons, so I didn't get any of that on film, but here are a few pics before my camera died.

It's that time again.....

Dancing With the Stars has returned and I've finally started watching TV again. My favorite this season is.........Cody and Julianne!!!! Be sure and check it out Monday nights on ABC!

Good News!!

If you haven't heard yet, I had a biopsy last Thursday on a lump in my breast. I was pretty nervous, especially for the procedure itself. It didn't help that the doctor was extremely gorgeous ~ well, let's be honest, maybe it did help just a "little" bit.... :-) Anyways, I was mostly nervous because I didn't know what to expect. I felt fairly confident the outcome would be fine, and I had a blessing to calm my nervous, which helped considerably.

I rec'd my results this morning and, THANKFULLY, everything is fine ~ benign!! I'm truly grateful to Heavenly Father for this blessing. It has, however, made me more aware of breast cancer and the impact it has on many, many lives. Since our family doesn't have a history of breast cancer, I honestly haven't ever thought about it too much ~ and I'm sorry for that. Since I've known about the lump, a young mother of three in my ward has been diagnosed with agressive breast cancer; and of course, we know several people in Corpus that are suffering from the disease as well. Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers ~ they are in mine!!!

Salt Lake

A couple of weeks ago I went to Salt Lake on a business trip. I was so excited and grateful to have the opportunity. While I was there, I got to see Sandy and the boys, minus Colson ~ he's was at BYU already. Here are a few pictures from my trip.

Sandy in her cute new kitchen. They've moved to a condo and it's really adorable!!

John ~ relaxing after a hard day's work. He kept telling us that he was going running, but I'm still not sure if he ever actually went. ~ doesn't look like it, does it?
Brandon!! My sweetheart. I'm grateful that he went on his mission, but I'm glad that he's back. He's going to BYU as well. Funny story, the apartment that he's moving into is called "Winters Quarters". Like Sandy says, Couldn't they come up with a better name???? I'm not sure I'd want to live there!!!
This is Cafe Rio. Ever since I went to Salt Lake at Christmas, I've been craving this place. So naturally, we had to go. Their burritos are awesome!!! Because of Cafe Rio, I've now found my favorite place to eat ~ Chipolte's, here in the Dallas area. If you've never been, go. Their burritos are to die for!!!
Joe getting ready for football practice......
Joe at practice. It's so beautiful and cool. Sometimes I wish I lived there.
Speaking of living there.....I'm hoping to be able to open an office for my company in Salt Lake. That would be awesome. I was thinking, if I did, we could rent an office space in that building right behind the temple. What a view I would have every day. I think I could handle that!!!

Okay, I just put a counter at the bottom of my blog and the little "visitor's map" on the right-hand side. To my family and friends, please, please check out my blog regularly or it will look like nobody loves me....... :-(

I know you look often, but still....... I promise I look at yours!!

Jonas Brothers Concert

Okay, I know these are old pictures, but I've been a bit occupied with the whole Twilight thing lately. A few months ago, Holly, Tara, Aubrey, Ella & I attended the Jonas Bros Concert. It was awesome!! I really enjoy doing stuff with these "girls", they're hiliarious....both the young ones and "older" ones. It's so nice to have family nearby. I don't get to see them near as often as I would like, but I know that they're here, only minutes away, and that gives me peace!! I plan on going to the Plano Balloon Festival on the 19th with Joey, Holly & the girls ~ I'm totally excited for that. In all the years I've been here, I haven't gone to that event yet, and I've always wanted to. Can't wait to post those pics!!

Ella looking through her $10 paper binoculars

Aubrey ~ her face when the Bros. finally came out

Just looking cute

Like I said, looking cute

I Am Tennis

Sadly, I think I have to totally agree with the description below, even though I don't even play tennis!

You Are Tennis

You are highly competitive and driven.

You're in it to win, and you will keep going until you do.

You crave fame, success, and the envy of others.

Houston

Okay, my camera's battery was dead so I didn't take any pictures.

We had a great time even though you're not going to see any picture evidence. Kenny & Karen are the best hosts ever....as you all know. I love their pool. It's a salt water pool, no chlorine, so your skin gets really soft!! We had a cake for Mom's birthday ~ she was totally suprised. Kenny, Karen & Kellye got Mom the Book of Mormon on CDs, so someone in Corpus please show Mom how to use her CD player!! It was a great, relaxing time. Too bad you couldn't share it with us :-)

SALT LAKE:
I'm going to Salt Lake on Wednesday for work and will get to see Sandy & the boys. I'll make sure my camera's battery is fully charged for this trip!!

I am going to Houston tomorrow, so hopefully I'll have something else to enter later next week.....one can hope!!

The Olympics

Okay, so there is something else I'm addicted to besides Twilight. The Olympics!!! Go Team USA!!!!

Here's Shawn Johnson. She's my favorite!!

And of course, Michael Phelps ~ who can't help but love him. I hope he gets his 8 Golds and becomes the most decorated athlete in Olympic history!! (You know, I secretly think he's a vampire, so I bet he's a shoe-in for it....hee, hee) If you missed the relay race last night, you really missed out. It was totally awesome. Our guys came back at the last minute to beat the French. We were pretty far behind, too. We beat the World Record by 4 seconds, yes, 4 seconds. Absolutely incredible!!!

Twilight Blog

**UPDATE** The blog is ready, please let me know if you want to be added. You're only going to be able to comment if you have been added as a contributor, for now, at least.....
My advice is to finish all the books before you look at the blog because there may be spoilers - of course, right now there are none, but that may soon change**
I am working on setting up a Twilight blog. Please let me know if you want to be a "contributor" to the blog. I'm really looking forward to creating this blog. I think it will be tons of fun.....and I can finally stop posting so much Twilight stuff on my own blog. Come join the fun everyone. I think it's going to be FABULOUS!!! Don't be a party pooper......
Leave a comment and let me know if you want to be a part of the best blog on the planet....hee,hee.........

Team Edward or Team Jacob?

Now, come on, is there really any comparison??? The cars alone tell the story...... We all know what side I'm on ~ Go Team Edward!!!!! Nice try, Jacob, but you're just not cutting the mustard, for me at least.

I'm Finished.......

Now bring on the movie......

It's Almost Here.....

I'm so excited, and a little nervous....what if it doesn't turn out the way I hope??? What if MY heart is broken??? I may never read anything ever again.

But I was thinking last night, if it doesn't turn out my way, or even a "good enough" way, then maybe I'll just change the ending in my head.

I probably won't be getting my copy of Breaking Dawn until next week sometime....I pre-ordered. Thank goodness Mom & Dad will be here this weekend for a nice distraction. I'll definitely have to keep off the Internet until I read the book. I don't want any spoilers whatsoever.....

Are you guys excited, too? I can just feel it in the air...... whoo~hoo!!!!!

Twilight

Okay, I'm addicted, thanks to Tara & Holly. Actually, yes, thanks to Tara & Holly. I LOVE these books. I've already read the first three books, Twilight, New Moon & Eclipse. I'm waiting for the fourth and final one to be released Aug. 2nd.

For those of you who haven't heard of these books, they're fabulous. It's a love story between a high school student and a vampire, yes vampire. The author is a Mormon by the name of Stephanie Meyer, so you know it can't be too gory.

The movie is coming out on December 12th! Guess we'll have to have a girl's night out!!! I'm so looking forward to it.

Thank you Tara & Holly for introducing me to these books. Grandma thinks I'm addicted ~ and frankly, I think I am too. But who cares, I fully enjoy them and haven't been excited about something in such a long time ~ I deserve one moment, at least, don't you think?

Here are some pictures from the movie. I can't wait!! Please read the books, if you can. They're wonderful. And I don't even like to read...... So far, Holly, Tara, Joy, Tiffany & I are reading the books and Amber will be starting in on them soon. We'd love to have others join us. We need to start a discussion group!!!

Bella & Edward

What a hottie!! Edward, that is, not Bella

Check out those eyes!! Now that's intense.......

Remembering.....

I can't believe it's been 19 years since my mission. The old cliche is true, it does seem just like yesterday. This is one of my favorite pictures from my mission (with baby Silas) ~ geez, he's over 19 years old now ~ oh, my!! I sure do miss those days!!

I've Been Tagged

Thanks to Tara, I've been tagged. Now I have to write six ramdom things about myself. I don't know if I can even come up with six things, but here goes...

1.) If the pillows are not just perfect on my couch, I go crazy!!! Just keep that in mind when you come over :-)

2.) If I run long distances, the underneath part of my tongue starts to hurt really bad.

3.) I drove through the end of a rainbow! No pot of gold, sorry. (No one believes me ~ but to their credit, I was really sick at the time, so maybe, just maybe, I was near death -- but I remember it very clearly!!)

4.) I took a puff of a cigarette when I was 3. I won't tell you who gave it to me, but they know who they are.

5.) I had an imaginary friend named Polly Wally who lived in the mailbox. She had tons of kids, but no husband....

6.) And lastly, I used to play school with LeAnn and Gina Boler, who lived across the street from my parents. They lived in the Phillipines for a few years and got behind in school, so I took it upon myself to catch them up. I MADE them do homework...and they did it. I was mean....

Okay....I tag.....Joy, Sandy (just to see if she'll actually blog), Jeanie (it's about time she posted something!!), Libby, Julie and Santa Claus!!

RULES:
1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on the blog
3. Write six random things about yourself.
4. Tag six people at the end of your post
5. Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

The Forgotten Jonas Brother.....

Last night I attended the Jonas Brothers concert with Holly, Tara, Aubrey & Ella. I had a great time and will post my pics later. But right now I want to comment on something.....the forgotten Jonas brother....Kevin. Poor Kevin!! All we heard was "I love you Nick" "I love you Joe". Nobody loves Kevin???? Well, I'm here to say that "I LOVE KEVIN"!! Any guy who will drive the No. 18 car is fine with me. You go Kevin. You're the Best!! You're Fabulous!! I think you're the Bestest Jonas Bro ever!!!
Look....he's wondering "How come nobody loves Me"....so sad. I'm starting my own fan club!! You ROCK....camp rock

My New Man

I was craving Chicken Tortilla Soup from Taco Bueno today, so I decided to go there for lunch. There was no drive-thru so I had to go inside. As I was waiting in line, I turned around and looked at the people sitting in the restaurant. And low and behold, there he was!! My boyfriend - I wish. It was Jeremy from the Bachelorette!!! I tried not to look at him too much as to give it away that I knew who he was. I played it very nonchalant... you'd be proud. He did look at me a couple of times ~ woohoo ~ probably wondering who that psycho lady was staring at him. The funny thing is, I was just thinking about the show and how excited I was to watch it tonight. Maybe this is a sign that he's the winner.....or......maybe, just maybe, it's a sign that I'M the winner -- yeah, right!! Fun stuff!!

**UPDATE**
Tonight Jeremy was eliminated from the Bachelorette. Things are looking good for me....hee,hee :-)

Time's Up

Okay, okay, okay....I think the time has finally come for somebody to tell me who sent this bunny to me TWO YEARS AGO!! With the reunion coming up, I realized that I rec'd this bunny two years ago right before our last reunion when I ran over the poor little bunnies with my lawnmower and then my neighbor carved the bunny in my grass ~ boy, that was strange.
Anywoo......whoever sent this truly did a great job of keeping their identity concealed, but I believe it's time you come out in the open and reveal yourself. I think I've waited long enough. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE come forward. My sanity depends upon it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't you think I've suffered enough lately. Come on People!

In Disguise

HELLO!

I bet you can't guess who this is :-)

Sunday, June 15, 2008

My new desk ~ Notice the Sunkist?? Some things never change. The water belongs to Jane :)
The front desk. I just love the wall colors! (My office is the single door)
Our adorable "little" kitchen. Everything is tiny, even the microwave and sink ~ it's so cute!
Santiago, Windy & DeMeon (some of my new co-workers)
Jane from Houston. She came to Dallas to train me for a couple of days last week. She's a sweetheart. She's going to San Antonio to open an office there all by herself! Hopefully I'll be able to do that soon.....

My New Bathroom

Well, it's finally done ~ the painting portion, that is. I'm so excited to start getting my bathroom back together. It's been a tedious and sometimes painful experience. I've had plenty of paint spills that had to be picked up, like the major spill I had all over my toilet. I still have a few things to do to finish the room, but that will happen little by little, as money dictates. I LUV my new shower curtain. You can't see it too well here, but it is really beautiful. I can't seem to stay out of the bathroom, I just love to look at it!!! It must be because it was a definite "labor" of love!!

My Fishing Trips in Corpus & Port A

My Two Fishing trips in Corpus. The first one was with Josh & Libby, Julie & Bryan and kids. It was very relaxing. I didn't fish. The second time was with Jimmy and my Dad. I got a fishing license this time and actually caught some fish ~ my first ever. I really enjoyed both trips. Thanks everyone!! I miss Corpus already. Those two weeks of laziness were wonderful!!
